Tahoe Island is a beautiful residential area made up of two neighborhoods: Tahoe Island Drive and Tahoe Island Park. Located near the entrance to the Tahoe Keys, this area contains about 400 homes in a variety of sizes and styles, all boasting quick access to the lake and the outdoor recreation for which the area is known. The oldest homes in the area were built in the 1960, but you will find houses and condos constructed all throughout the decades since, including some new construction developments.
One of the features that draws many people to Tahoe Island is the topography. Because it is mostly level, winter conditions are no cause for concern, in contrast to some areas where streets and driveways are steep and present a challenge after the snow falls. Some lots also feature access to the sailing lagoon, a private dock, or walkability to wide open meadows.
If you live or vacation in Tahoe Island, you will enjoy convenient access to local shopping, dining, entertainment, and amenities. Hop on a bike trail to take a leisurely ride down to a beach, or take a walk through the beautifully scenic setting and enjoy peeks of the mountains and lake. This peaceful community is a local favorite, and after you visit we think you will see why.
Tahoe Island is located near the entrance to the Tahoe Keys, a 740 acre marina community with miles of inland waterways. While access to their waterways is exclusively available to their residents, it does provide a beautiful scenery and place a limit on development in the area. Tahoe Island is also peppered with beautiful open meadows and offers quick access to bike trails in the area.
Dining and shopping are available just minutes away. Jalapeno's Taqueria is a classic, casual taco shop near enough to access by bike ride. Looking for something more upscale? Take a quick drive to Evan's American Gourmet Cafe. Open every Tuesday through Saturday evening for dinner, this fine dining restaurant offers menu items inspired by flavors from around the globe.
If you need to grab some groceries or run an errand, there are grocery stores, pharmacies, thrift store, and more all within just a few minutes' drive.
Public schools serving families in Tahoe Island are a part of Lake Tahoe Unified School District, with a great reputation and small class sizes.
Homes in Tahoe Island are generally single family homes between 1,000 and 2,000 square feet. You will find a limited number of properties that fall outside that range, as well. The original development in the area took place between the 1960s and 1980s, so you will see quite a few homes in the area built during that era. There are also a handful of new construction developments that have been built starting in the early 2000s. This is an ideal community to choose if you are looking for a midsize home in a midrange budget, with many beautiful properties that feature lagoon access, mature trees, private docks, and more.
